CIRCLES OF CARE
Why care? Because there is an enormous lack of kindness and care in the world right now. Let's support one another with kindness and connection, remembering our deep shared humanity.

ABOUT THIS GATHERING
Do you paint, draw, create collages? Sew, knit, embroider, spin, weave? Create in mixed media, jewelry, beadwork, printmaking, papercrafting? We are creative beings in an ever~creative Universe. Art and crafting can create meaning and beauty and can also be holy and subversive work. Simply making an item by hand is a challenge to our machine-made culture.

Bring whatever creative project you are working on, or come to dream up something new. Creating with our hands can be comforting and enlivening during anxious times. And creating together can light up our imaginations. Making can be a spiritual practice.

Companionship
Let’s share who we are, what most interests us, and how creativity plays a role in our lives. Bring a current project to work on, your enthusiasm, and a notebook to write down thoughts and ideas sparked by being together and learning from one another. If you wish, bring a handmade item for ‘show and tell.’

Work and Play
As we work together and share what we are doing with others, imaginations expand. In addition to working individually, we may explore examples of “craftivism,” a gentle way to use our creativity in service to the world. Maybe some of us upcycle and reuse materials in our creations. It will be interesting to see what else emerges in our conversations.

Sharing Resources
Bring any new or gently used art/craft materials, tools, or books ~ whatever you no longer need and would like to give to others.
If you have finished pieces you wish to give away, bring them, too. If you’re aware of helpful books, websites, ideas, please share.

Let’s play!
There is no charge to attend. Gifts are gratefully accepted but not necessary. RSVP to sanctuarywithoutwalls@aol.com for event location and so that we are able to create an inviting set-up (tables, chairs, electricity, etc.)

Circle of Care
A Spirituality of Nature:
Into the Wood: Discovering your wild and sacred nature
October 12, 2025
In a wooded area, Chatham, NY
"Restoring the Great Conversation with the wind, the wild beings, the creeks and ivy plant climbing the brick walls, as Thomas Berry insisted, is our pathway toward not only re-sacralizing our relationship with Earth, but restores our capacity to listen in reciprocity to the voices which have been silenced by the dominant culture. The very voices -- human and more than human -- which bear the wisdom we desperately need at this time." ~ Victoria Loorz, Center for Wild Spirituality

Are you ready to take a deeper look at your kinship with the beings and outdoor places to which we belong? Please join me for this Earth-centered exploration of our spirituality. This event welcomes women from all religious and spiritual traditions, or none.
Why women? Women’s wild experiences and ways of knowing are especially important in this time of biodiversity loss and ecological destruction. All women 18 years and over are welcome; let's fall in love with the Earth's living beings, land, and water in our area. What we love, we protect.
Before we meet, I invite you to reflect on a place — land or water — which you love, a place which nourished you, especially during your childhood. Together we will share and deepen our ecospiritual kinship with Earth.

Grounding:
We will begin our time together by honoring the land we walk upon, and by moving our connection to the greater-than-human world out of our heads, and into our hearts and bodies, thus enlarging our sense of our selves and where we belong within sacred nature.

Connection:
Let’s experience how intertwined we are with each other and all that is, in one sacred reality. We are connected with the rest of nature in deep and fascinating ways that can deepen our wild and sacred natures. Each of us has something to share from her experiences.

Deepening Spirituality:
What will happen: After we ground together in our chosen place, we will move into the spiritual practice of a solo “saunter,” or “wander,” in a wooded place, with our senses awakened and our hearts open. Then we will come together to share our experiences.
TO REGISTER: Email SWW at sanctuarywithoutwalls@aol.com to be sent directions to the place, and for information about dress and what to bring. This event will be held rain or shine unless the weather is severe. There is no charge for this event, though gifts to SWW are gratefully accepted.

Circle of Care
Elderwomen's Circle
This Circle is currently being created.
Please visit again later.

Like the Three Norns in the above painting by Maia Ramishvili, women shape the fate of the world with our actions and our ways of being. This gathering for Elders, women 70 years and over, is a safe and supportive place to share our hard-earned wisdom. We will share our grief, our joys, our strategies for living in these later years of our lives, including how to respond in creative, healing, regenerative ways to these turbulent times, personally and socially. The world needs our wisdom.

This circle is in the planning stages. Check in again for location, date and time.
